Pan not working correctly on QuantumWave
Pan not working correctly on QuantumWave
I've been diving deep into the excellent QuantumWave lately and have discovered a problem.
The Pan-section doesn't seem to be working correctly.
I can pan right as expected, but panning left doesn't work.
When I pan left I hear a small increase in volume but that's about it.
It's the QWave ver. 1.1 I'm running, and I get the same result on both my XITE (Scope 5.1) and my PCI-system (Scope 5.0).
Could someone please double check this for me?

Hmmmm, I will have to set things up to test this. Let me see what I can find out.

Re: Pan not working correctly on QuantumWave
Yes, Pan is definitely working for me here. I tested the same v1.1. I tested all 4 Instruments, and the pan control works with no problem.
Can you check with another device - or just check that both outputs to your mains are working? (I'm sure you've checked this already, but to be sure...)
I don't know what else to say - but definitely working here!

Re: Pan not working correctly on QuantumWave
OK, that is very strange indeed. I wonder what the problem is here then?
I just checked again and got the same result as originally described.
I first checked that the mixer channel worked correctly. I also tried a simple modular patch and everything worked as expected.
When I load the Q-wave on the same stereo mixer channel and pan on the mixer it works, but I simply can not make the pan section on Q-Wave work correctly.
Any ideas as to what to try next?

No Idea.
Why don't you send me your device, and I'll check it here, just to make sure there's nothing strange on that end.

Re: Pan not working correctly on QuantumWave
Tonight I tried to reinstall Q-WAve using both "versions" I could find on SonicCores server:
ftp://sonic-core.net/software/scope5/plugins/ZARG/
ftp://sonic-core.net/software/3rd_Party/Zarg/
I tried both versions on both the XITE and the PCI-system. Still no success.
Then I tried Solaris v4.1 to see if the pan section would be working here. Same result as with the QWave!?!
Then I tried Vectron, pan section works here.
I could still mail you my devices, but I'm running the devices I downloaded from SonicCore's website tonight, so I'm not sure what good it would do.
I'm not sure what to try next.

Re: Pan not working correctly on QuantumWave
Tonight I unistalled my PCI-system and completely reinstalled Scope version 5.0 and Q-Wave.
Unfortunately this did not do the trick either.
Then I uninstalled Scope V5 again, and then I installed Scope V4.5 + Q-Wave on my windows 7 32bit machine.
And this time the Pan-section on Q-Wave worked as expected!
Could the problems with the pan-sections not working correctly on Q-Wave and Solaris be a Scope V5 + Scope V5.1 related problem with Q-Wave and Solaris?
What version of Scope did you test Q-wave on the other day?

Re: Pan not working correctly on QuantumWave
Scope v3.1 is what I have. Looks like there's something missing in the Scope V5 install....petal wrote:Tonight I unistalled my PCI-system and completely reinstalled Scope version 5.0 and Q-Wave.

I have an idea of what it might be - there were some modules that they needed to convert from the older Scope to V5, so I'm guessing I used a Pan module from that group. I'll have to ask Sonic Core if they know about this....perhaps the pan module I used did not get converted?
Re: Pan not working correctly on QuantumWave
OK, at least we are homing in on a possible problem/solution.
I'm looking forward to hear what you find out.

Re: Pan not working correctly on QuantumWave
Nothing has been done on this yet, other than I did verify that the possible culprit I had in mind (an unconverted module) seems not to be the issue. I'll have to re-boot the old Windows computer and get the SDK running again to check the original file, when I have time.

Hi John,
Any news on this minor detail on otherwise excellent instruments?

Re: Pan not working correctly on QuantumWave
No, it’s still a mystery. I looked inside the module, and could find nothing different in what I used from other products that don’t show this problem.
Very strange!
