Hi,
I'd be interested to see the source code indeed, to evaluate how hard it would be to port it to the Mac.
Thanks

Re: OLED text displays
Also once replaced, is there any good use for the old LCD screens ? Would John take them back as spares for building/repairing other Solaris units ?

Re: OLED text displays
Hi,
I was wondering if the inverted background center LCD comes with the $250 upgrade kit, or is it a modification to the existing LCD display ?

Re: OLED text displays
I would be in although this sounds very expensive - a significant chunk of the original price of the synth.
OLED is still relatively new - maybe give it another year or two and these parts could drop to half the current price as production ramps up ?

Re: random all parameters
Full randomness on all parameters might be unusable 90% of the time ;) But hey ...
Reminds me of a feature I love on the Virus TI : you can "lock" a parameter (or maybe group of parameters, can't recall) to its current value, so that it doesn't change even when browsing through presets. Creates ...

Re: would you be interested in SOLARIS editor ?
Well that was quick...
I had some issues with Projucer (latest version 5) but eventually managed to export to XCode, here's what happens :
First, dozens of these errors :

Re: Fast & Simple & Easy Sample Loading
I agree that this would be a great addition. As I've just said elsewhere, given the outstanding sound engine we already have, I value this kind of usability features at least as highly as new sonic possibilities.

Re: Developer Fund
I'm also ready to contribute my $200.
I understand that the purpose of this is primarily to fund a DSP developer.
Maybe I'll be a slightly different voice here, but as far as I'm concerned the Solaris is already so deep in terms of sound design that multitimbrality / a split keyboard performance ...

Re: more powerful output routing
I would be surprised if this were even possible.
The Solaris is a digital synth, its LFOs and envelopes are not an analog electrical signal you could patch in and out like in a modular synth, they are software functions that shape the output from previous functions (oscillators etc), the result ...

Jim, you're awesome !
John, glad to see you've apparently been able to sort source code / IP issues with Sonic Core.

Re: Crazy Ribbon : pitch going up 3-4 octaves after a few seconds
Hmmm, it could be a contact problem inside the ribbon, but I think first be careful on doing the calibration routine.
If you press the keypad 1-8-3 simultaneously, you get the self-test menu. You will see the list of choices, and you want to pick #3 Ribbon.
It will say to touch the rightmost ...

Crazy Ribbon : pitch going up 3-4 octaves after a few seconds
After a few busy months, I came back to my Solaris tonight and I'm faced with worrying behavior:
After about 10 seconds, pitch suddenly jumps up 3-4 octaves (a C2 quite consistently becomes an A5), and I need to touch the ribbon controller (anywhere) to put it back into place.
Then a dozen seconds ...

AFAIK the free version of JUCE is GPL only, i.e. you also need to release any code under the GPL too. http://www.juce.com/get-juce I think you are right and I think I’ve misunderstood the license. I’m going to have to remove it, at least for the time being. I’m very sorry about that. :(
