Re: CF reader failed?
I got another CF card, to see if maybe there was something funny about mine where my PC can read it but the Solaris can't. I copied the four folders onto the new card and put it in. Now it works! I don't know what is the deal with my factory card where my PC can read it but the Solaris can't. But it ...

Re: CF reader failed?
Thanks, John. Yeah, I very seldom remove the card. Last time I did was about six months ago, the last time I backed it up.

CF reader failed?
I think the Compact Flash reader in my Solaris has failed. Yesterday, I turned it on and got the "empty" message on the preset screen. I turned it off, pulled the card, inserted it in the card reader in my Mac, and it said the card was uninitialized. I reformatted it (to FAT32; had to use a Windows ...

Two minor things with sample loading
Now that I'm finally start to play with building and loading sample pools, I've noticed two minor things:
* There is an off-by-one between the sample indexes in a SamplePool file, and the wave number displayed in Oscillators window. Wave 0 in the window is sample index 1 in the file, etc. Not a big ...

Solaris won't stay in tune
Good day, and my apologies in advance if this is a topic that has been covered previously -- I didn't find anything with a forum search. I have an early-production Solaris, and I'm getting back into playing after not having done much over the past year and a half, but this is a problem I had noticed ...

Scan your wavetables!
Last week, I was playing with the wavetable oscillator, which I have not done much with up to now. I had tried before to do some things with it, and it seemed like all I could get out of it was either organ-like sounds, or noise. Then it dawned on me: I needed to hear the full content of each ...

Washington -- a Statescape
Here's a track done entirely with the Solaris. Among the things I do are tracks that I call "Statescapes". If you've heard any of Robert Fripp's Soundscapes, you know the idea -- "music of repetition and hazard", a sound-on-sound technique using long-period delays with feedback and improvisation ...

Re: Navigation
Interesting. How much are you using the data wheel? I find myself using it a lot to browse patches, but not as much for patch editing. If I want an exact value for a parameter, I usually use the keypad. (Which, by the way, is an incredibly useful thing to have -- the only other synth I have that has ...

Navigation
One of the things I've really been impressed with (now that I've finally got a bit of time to build some patches!) is how quick it is to navigate parameters on the Solaris. It has turned out to be every bit as good as I'd hoped back when we had the discussion here about the page displays and page ...

Re: Could this be done?
The Oberheim Matrix-1000 did that too. They called it "guitar mode"; I guess it was intended to interface with a guitar synth.

What's the first thing you are going to do with your Solaris
Aside from unpacking it and hooking it up, of course. I'm going to bang together a few patches, then I'm going to connect in some long-period delays and do a Frippertronics thing with it.
